Nonfiction Text Features

We have been studying nonfiction text features. Students should be able to identify text features from nonfiction text and tell how they can be used to help us as readers. Here are some pictures of our children creating their own nonfiction books:

Field Trip

Second grade will be going on a field trip to the South Carolina State Museum on Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Permission slips were sent home last week. The cost for children will be $6.00 and the cost for chaperones will be $8.00. Parents who would like to attend must have a SLED check on file before the trip regardless of whether they follow the bus on meet us at the museum. All SLED applications must be submitted by February18th. If you paid for the Circus of the Kids field trip that was cancelled due to the flood, the $6.00 paid for that trip will be applied to this field trip.

Happy Valentine's Day

Thanks to all who contributed to our Valentine's Day celebration. The children had big fun sharing their treats.  Here are a few pictures of our day. Enjoy your long weekend!

Valentine's Day

We have completed MAP testing! Our children did a wonderful job and all have shown progress. I am very proud of them. Now it's time to celebrate! On Friday, February 12th, we will have a small celebration. Students  will be allowed to exchange cards and treat bags if you would like. If you send in treats (store bought only, please), I ask that you send enough for all 21 students. Thanks for all you do to support your child.

We Survived the First 100 Days!

We have survived the first one hundred days of school and we are 100 days smarter! We have worked hard, played hard, and today we celebrated with a parade! We enjoyed some 100th day activities and wore our 100th Day t-shirts. 80 more days to go!
